Banff is nestled between three great ski/snowboard mountains (Mount Norquay, Sunshine Village, et Lake Louise Ski Resort), une heure de route au nord de Calgary.
If you are coming out to Canada to work in one of the top ski resorts more than likely some of you will end up living in this funky little town. We have put together our top attraction picks for you to check out during your stay or even if you are visiting for a weekend.
1. Glacier Skywalk et le champ de glace du glacier Columbia
Who doesn’t want to say that they have walked on a glacier? This is your chance. La chute de 918 pieds du sol en verre vers le bas fera battre votre cœur. La passerelle offre une vue imprenable et est une occasion incontournable pour obtenir une vue panoramique complète des Rocheuses canadiennes.
Bring a picnic and stop off for a scenic walk at the Columbia Glacier Icefield Centre. Shuttle buses to the skywalk operate every 15 minutes from the Centre.
2. Valley of the 10 Peaks
Pour tout amateur de plein air, c'est la randonnée d'une vie. Wake up early to start this epic adventure. Follow the Larch Valley trail up onto the Sentinel Pass. Starting just behind Moraine Lake Lodge, guiding you in through the forest, the hike can take a full day, especially with all the stopping for some epic pics.
You will see plenty of wildlife en route and you might even see some bears. There are bear precautions in place in September when our big furry friends are stocking up on food for the winter.
You must travel in groups of four people upwards during this time. Top tips: Bring Bear Spray, try to avoid going on a Saturday as Moraine lake can get overcrowded and don’t forget to bring your camera!
3. Upper Hot Springs Pools
The hot springs are a must for anyone visiting Banff. Après une journée complète de ski ou une soirée en ville, c'est un endroit idéal pour profiter d'un bain dans l'eau minérale chaude à la vapeur. Piscines extérieures chaudes et vue panoramique sur les montagnes enneigées, what’s not to like!

4. Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
Step into a fairytale at this hotel. It looks like something straight out of a magazine. Les vues sur le lac à tout moment de l'année sont à couper le souffle. In the summer the glacier water is so clear the sunlight bounces off it and in the winter you are greeted with amazing ice sculptures and you can venture out onto the frozen lake to play a game of Canada’s most popular sport, Ice Hockey of course.
Don’t be afraid to stroll around the hotel, stop off for a very posh beverage, assis dans l'une des gigantesques chaises. If you are in the mood to spend you could treat yourself to a pamper day at the spa but you need to have plenty of dollars lining your pockets.
5. Meet fellow Backpackers at the Beaver Bar
C'est le lieu de rencontre ultime pour les routards lorsqu'ils sont à Banff. Situé dans l'auberge Samesun, vous rencontrerez forcément des voyageurs sympathiques si vous passez prendre une pinte.
Il se passe quelque chose au bar tous les soirs Beaver, de Bingo pour ouvrir la nuit mic chaque jeudi vous avez la garantie d'un bon moment. Nous étions là pour Halloween a pas si longtemps et a eu une explosion. Dites à Hannah que nous vous avons envoyé et elle s'occupera de vous 🙂
